Divide Mountain is the White Pyramid shaped Peak seen
from St. Mary area. It's a relatively easy scramble.
Especially considering the St Mary fire of 2005 burned most the forests
in the area. Loggers came in to clear the dead trees and left
roads that lead right to the base of the Peak. We hiked to the
North East ridge from the roads and scrambled up there to an Old Fire
lookout. From there is a well-worn climbers trail to the summit.
J. Gordan Edwards the"Patron Saint of Climbing" in the Park, passed away
from a heart attack on this Mountain in 2004 while Climbing it. He
was still Climbing when he was 84 years old. |
