The most Beautiful Mountain in Glacier National Park
in my Opinion. Relatively low in elevation but Flanked by Glaciers
on all Sides. Was the most dangerous climb I did in GNP. We
started at McDonald Creek about 8 miles north of Lake McDonald Lodge.
Forded the creek and begin to hike up along a Stream that drains the
Basin.
When at the top of the basin we hiked to the right and
Scrambled up very steep loose cliffs to reach the ridge known as the
Glacial Wall. The ridge is a Knife Edge ridge with snow and a
Glacier along it. The Ridge leads to a wonderfully beautiful open
Slab below Cliffs that guard the Summit.
We were able to Negotiate the Glacier and get above
the cliffs. From there it is a pleasant ridge walk to the Summit.
The Summit had a feeling of Remoteness I have not Experienced on any
other Peaks I have done yet in Glacier. |
