Lake McDonald is the largest lake in
Glacier NP. At about 10 miles long and 1-1.5 miles wide it's
quite a lake. Lake was formed by huge glacier digging out a deep
hole in the valley, than when the glacier receded water filled up the
huge gap. It's always cold, at about 250 feet deep it stays cold
even in the Hottest Days of summer. If one comes to glacier to see
amazing temperate forests and beautiful mountains, than Lake is
the place to go. |
